She is also a qualified Surgeon and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons, England. She has been working as a GP since 2005 and is interested in all domains of family medicine; especially women & children’s health, chronic disease management, minor surgery and mental health. She is enthusiastic about actively promoting healthy lifestyle through diet, exercise and emotional well-being. She has diverse experience in the medical field, working in urban, rural and very remote settings, as well as in hospital settings and is very much interested in training junior doctors.

Shayla is the youngest reception team member and is still in school. Outside of her school hours, she is learning the tricks of the GP trade and one day wish to become a Medical Professional. Patient care is her passion which she has been nurturing ever since she joined our team. Shayla is very quiet on the phone and if you hear the huskiest voice when you call our Surgery, you can be sure it is Shayla. But let us give her this one… She has the biggest smile of the team and enjoys talking to people. Sometimes…!!!

If you walk into the Surgery and hear “Hi, how are you?”, you will surely know its Mikayla in the reception. She has completed her Certificate III in aged care with Tafe and has also completed first aid certification. It is her cherished dream to become a nurse one day and strive for her paitents’ health and well being in the future.
